A lot to study:- To the extent the actions in Jonestown were viewed as a mass suicide, it is the largest such event in modern history and resulted in the largest single loss of American civilian life in a non-natural disaster until the events of September 11, 2001.[1]

"Teaching: a vocation, and not a profession. The child was not invented for educational systems (tests, so on…), but educational systems invented for the child. If you would encourage the pupil to increased growth by your knowledge, you must both love it and know it well, and your pupils will love both the knowledge and yourself, and you will benefit them. But if you yourself do not love it, then, no matter by what means you force them to learn, your knowledge will have no educative influence at all." Tolstoy ‘Education and Culture’.
PN. A few scientists follow their religious beliefs rather than the scientific method. Biological evolution is just one of the most important of many broad issues on which substantially all working scientists agree. There may be a few persons with scientific credentials who disagree, but they do not contribute to the progress that is the hallmark of science. It is not simply that these dissenters are wrong, because wrong answers can sometimes stimulate controversy that helps lead to correct answers."
Rather, as the physicist Wolfgang Pauli liked to say, "They are not even wrong. That is, their arguments are useless and even detrimental to the pursuit of further knowledge."
Education UK, the lost generations: past and future. About 40,000 well-qualified school leavers are likely to be denied places at university this year after record applications, a think tank warns.
Fascist ideology has its roots in the writings of Rousseau, Fichte, and the quiet Professor Nietzsche (1844-1900). Nietzsche wrote, "The object is to attain that enormous energy of greatness, which can model the man of the future by means of discipline, and also, by means of the annihilation of millions, and which, can yet avoid going to ruin at the sight of the suffering created thereby, the like of which has never been seen before… A new vast aristocracy based upon the most severe self-discipline, in which, the will of philosophical men of power and artist-tyrants will be stamped upon for thousands of years." Adolf Hitler thought it great stuff and modelled his life on it, "If men will read my works" Nietzsche wrote, "A certain percentage of them inspired by my philosophy, can preserve and restore Aristocracy, with themselves as Aristocrats. In this way they will achieve a fuller life than they can have as servants of the people". It is evident that some ambitious and intelligent men did indeed read his works and were inspired by them, and put theory into practice. From the 1967 to 1974 ‘The Era of the Greek Colonels’, to the present rulers of many modern states. I submit to you that the philosophy of Professor Nietzsche of Basel is still alive and well.!A18BF3FCC5E126A2!2400.entry

Muslims believed that gold and silver must circulate, and this circulation, called rawaj, was a social and religious duty. Hoarding gold and silver was forbidden by the Qur’an (Koran), "Those who store up gold and silver and do not spend them in the way of God, tell them of a painful chastisement!" The cosmographer al-Qawini, writing only a decade or so after the minting of the first florin, says, "Gold is the noblest of the blessings of Almighty God upon his servants, for it is the foundation of the affairs of this world and brings order to the affairs of mankind…. With silver and gold coins, everything can be bought and sold. They must circulate, unlike other forms of wealth, for it is not desirable for anyone to accumulate silver and gold…. Anyone who stores them up destroys the wisdom created by God, just as if one imprisoned the Qadi of a town and prevented him from carrying out his duties toward the people.”

Self-deception! Photo ‘album’. ‘Admiration’ of the Self!

"The industrial nations of the world and their governments have been swept forward by the pressure of invention, through a barrier they did not see, into a world they have not yet understood. As the resources of the earth become more depleted, populations more crowded, and more deprived, the greater will be their effort to pass the problem on to the next generation. Self-deception will become more persuasive; optimism will take hold"! The Cult of ‘Wall Street’, or that of ‘Main Street’? We all know that we have been raped, pillaged, and are now, or have been, robbed by the Banks and Wall Street, or the City: who really wants to kill off this (very possible and/or potentially) Golden Goose.

Obama’s America. The End Of The Dream.

In the second of two films to mark the anniversary of Barack Obama’s inauguration, Simon Schama asks what has happened to the fabled American Dream – the promise of prosperity for all.

At the start of 2009, Obama took office in the midst of an economic and financial crisis unparalleled since the Great Depression. One of his key election pledges was to make the American money machine work for everyone. To many, the United States is synonymous with freebooting capitalism, but, as Schama discovers, since the birth of the republic there’s been confusion over the role of banks. Are they the creators or the destroyers of the American Dream?

President Obama now finds himself confronting what is not just a historical but also a political dilemma. Will he act decisively to rein in Wall Street and end the cycle of boom and bust which has destroyed the lives of ordinary Americans, or is he too timid to tamper with the goose which lays golden eggs? It’s a question which will determine whether the President is a political radical or a cautious pragmatist, and how he responds will shape America – and the face of capitalism – for years to come.

Sir David Attenborough ‘on God’ And, And, ‘don’t disguise the truth to children’. Said, by a (famous) exRC Priest at the time of the tsunami disaster. Some ‘other’ religionists blamed it on the behaviour of the populace – enough to make you give up, with all notions of having anything to do and ever, with all those ridiculous Churchy set-ups, let alone; let them, and so very readily, educate your kids, as they pretend to do, in the remarkably silly education system of the UK’s. "Poor teens" Ref, Fergus Stokes, a former priest turned humanist, said that, "Christians and other believers were trying to have it both ways" – "Either God has a hand in the fishbowl, in which case you can pray to him, or he doesn’t" – "There is some kind of inbuilt desire to hang on to supernatural forces. More and more, religion is not working for people and supernatural explanations rarely help". The ‘filthy’ – do know, quite fully, who they are, or were, and on this particular programme! See, the entry below and more…Heinrich Heine’s (observations), so on…

Heinrich Heine (1797-1856) ‘Then as Now’!
The stranger, who wanders through the great streets of London and does not chance right into the regular quarters of the people, sees little or nothing of the misery there, only here and there at the mouth of some dark alley, stands a ragged woman with a suckling babe at her wasted breast and begs with her eyes. Perhaps, if those eyes are still beautiful, one glances into them and shrinks back at the wretchedness of the world within them. The common beggars are old people, generally blacks, who stand at the corners of the streets cleaning pathways, a very necessary thing in muddy London and ask for coppers (coins) in reward. It is in the dusky twilight that poverty with her mates, vice and crime, glide forth from their lairs. They shun daylight the more anxiously, the more cruelly, their wretchedness contrasts with the pride of wealth, which glitters, everywhere. Only hunger sometimes drives them at noonday from their dens and then they stand, with silent speaking eyes, staring beseechingly at the rich merchant who hurries along, busy and jingling gold. Or, at the lazy Lord, who like a surfeited god, rides along on his high horse, casting now and then, an aristocratically indifferent glance at the mob below, as though they were swarming ants. Or, at all events, a mass of baser beings, whose joys and sorrows have nothing to do with his feelings. Yet, over the vulgar multitude, which sticks fast to the soil; soar like beings of higher nature England’s nobility. They regard their little island as only a temporary resting place; Italy as their summer garden; Paris as their social saloon, and the whole world as their inheritance.

About luckyme0

My First family, second marriage, bringing up my 18-year-old twins, boy, and girl. I am a third generation Humanist, who has some old handwritten information and notes; collected over many years. Someone may find the articles interesting, or helpful. They could bring back a little ‘reality’, after being ‘shocked’ and ‘brainwashed’, by some malicious group, or institution (REBT Therapy). People should know better, than to do this, to our very young, and the ‘obviously’ vulnerable! Go to easily accessible, non-superstitious knowledge that is not charlatanism! The blog has given me an incentive to order my thoughts, learn, and read up again, after a few non-thinking years of (very silly) imagination and passion. Why not, get your own key to a ‘door’, customise it to suit you, and it can be, all of your very own! Don’t believe, or be led by someone else’s; inherited, stupid, and a very likely (past, and not of today’s) ‘totally preposterous reality’s’. Only some interest in the ‘really big questions’, keeps life above the level of a farce, and very little else! KEEP THINKING! Some of the posts may need some correcting. The warning of another and horrendous, “Age of Superstition”. “Isn’t there something deeply absurd in the presumption that children ought to inherit beliefs from their parents. It can be deeply damaging, even lethally divisive. A ‘them’, with an ‘against us’, mentality” – Professor Richard Dawkins. “The will to believe is stronger than mere reason in the vast majority of people” – Dr J.Brown, Army Psychologist of the 1960′s. Humans will believe in almost anything, in fact, they seek it! Why? “98% of us, trained to be just good consumers, let’s train our children to be the 2% who have their very own creativity and discernment”; quote by a famous surreal artist. “The lack of reason brings forth monsters”. “Global interconnectedness is lethal against mass religion, nationalism, racism, and other destructive memeplexes. Following on, J.Bronowski, and ‘The Ascent Of Man’ TV series, and a book with the last DVD in this series, ‘The Long Childhood’ being especially revealing. ‘Prehistory’ and the ‘Making of the Human Mind’ by Colin Renfrew, with P.Wilson’s, ‘The Domestication of the Human Species’, and Nigel Spivey’s, TV series and book, ‘How Art Made The World’, offers some further explanations.
